One drawing.. my world change

A personal journey 💜

My journey into the realm of bookish creations began amidst a personal struggle with mental health, a time when the pages of books became my sanctuary and words my guiding light. As I navigated through the depths of my own challenges, I rediscovered my passion for reading—a passion that had lain dormant for far too long. I found a community where I felt I belonged. “ I found my people” as I like to say.  Along with the rediscovery of myself as an individual, I stumbled upon the vast and vibrant world of bookish merchandise. However, to my surprise, I couldn't find a lot of items available within Canada or that I didn't have to sell a kidney to ship over the border.

When I decided that I needed a bookish tattoo on my body as a symbol of discovering my love of reading again. I reached out to the one person that has been a creative hub for me throughout many years. Her name, like a whispered incantation, conjures memories of countless projects and boundless imagination. From sentimental pet portraits to a tender watercolor rendering of my childhood home—a heartfelt Christmas gift for my parents following their departure from it after over three decades—she has been a constant source of creative nourishment.

When we finished designing the tattoo I asked her if she would be interested in working with me to design some bookish stickers, maybe some bookmarks for me to start an ETSY shop. One that would cater to my bookish friends all over, but mainly to provide bookish merch within Canada that didn't cost an arm and a leg to ship!

Within weeks we had a collection of designs to be made into stickers and bookmarks. I'm always so grateful that she would just know what I was looking for and it was like she took the vision out of my head and put it on paper. Working with her as my illustrator has been a dream! I was so excited that I had 13 designs in about 2 months time and opened the shop on November 20th, 2022. From there it took off and here we are…. growing the community.
